Group 08 / 16

Batteries and accumulators

We source batteries, accumulators and chargers for industrial, energy storage and consumer use according to chemistry, capacity and voltage ratings, and ship them to the destination country in compliance with dangerous goods regulations.

Overview

This group covers alkaline and zinc-carbon dry-cell batteries, primary lithium batteries, lead-acid (AGM, gel and flooded) batteries, lithium-ion and LiFePO4 cells and battery packs, forklift and traction batteries, storage batteries for UPS and solar power systems, and chargers. The main buyers in this group are retail and wholesale distributors, UPS and energy storage integrators, telecom infrastructure companies, forklift service providers and solar installation companies.

In sourcing, chemistry, nominal voltage (V), capacity (Ah or Wh), cycle life, discharge current and terminal type are matched to the buyer's application. The UN 3480 and UN 3481 classification for lithium products, UN 2794 for lead-acid batteries, the UN 38.3 test summary and the safety data sheet are checked with the carrier in advance. Packaging, labels and markings are prepared according to IMDG or IATA regulations, and state of charge and short-circuit protection are verified before loading. Shipment is made with the carrier's dangerous goods approval.

What we check before loading

  • Chemistry and electrical ratings

Chemistry type, nominal voltage, capacity, cycle life and terminal type are compared with the buyer's application and specification.

  • UN classification

The UN 3480, UN 3481 or UN 2794 class, the UN 38.3 test summary and the safety data sheet are shared with the carrier in advance to obtain acceptance confirmation.

  • IMDG / IATA packing

Packaging type, hazard labels, UN markings and the lithium battery mark are checked according to IMDG or IATA regulations.

  • State of charge and short circuit

For lithium products, state of charge, terminal protection and short-circuit precautions are checked; lead-acid batteries are inspected for leakage.

Available documents

  • Commercial invoice and packing list
  • UN 38.3 test summary
  • Safety data sheet (MSDS / SDS)
  • Dangerous goods declaration (DGD)

Packaging and transport

Batteries are palletized in UN-approved packaging with separators and short-circuit protection; with carrier approval, they are shipped as dangerous goods by sea, road or air.

Typical HS code headings

8506Primary cells and primary batteries (dry cells)
8507Electric accumulators, including lead-acid and lithium-ion
8504Battery chargers (static converters)

Codes are for guidance only. Final classification is made for each shipment based on the product's technical specifications and the tariff schedule of the country concerned.
